Welcome to Thursday!

Today we will look at some anonymous paragraphs from yesterdays' pre-assessment and see what makes essays good, better, and best. We'll start by looking at introductions.

DO NOW:

Upload any writing from this week to SeeSaw BRIGHT PINK Q4 FOLDER

  • Word of the Week: argue

  • Spring Break journal entry

  • Notes on argument video

  • Any other journal entries you wrote THIS WEEK

THEN: Write me a letter in Seesaw about how Quarter 4 is going.

(See prompts on chalkboard if you need them.)

Start your letter: "Dear Ms. Kesti,"

3. Read Aloud

Learning Goals:

Students can deepen their understanding of what makes a strong argumentative text.

Students can identify the purpose of an introduction.

Students can reflect on their week of learning.

HOMEWORK:

READ for at least 20 minutes: a book, news articles, RAZ kids, movie reviews, music reviews, or get more ideas here.
